Monhegan Island Felted Landscape Workshop

Treat yourself to a personal getaway and artistic adventure on Monhegan Island, 10 miles off the coast of Maine. Make felted art outdoors using wool. You will learn foundational art techniques as you create plein air landscapes, side-by-side with painters in the place that artists have swarmed to for over 100 years.

4 Days of instruction: $325  |  June 2-6, 2024

(includes all wool & use of equipment, excluding pochade box*)
 

ACCOMODATIONS: I have a block of 10 rooms of various types saved at The Island Inn. Reservations can be made by calling (207) 596-0371. Tell them you are with the Kristen Walsh Felted Landscape Workshop to receive a 15% discount off low season rates. The room rate includes a full breakfast but does not include the 9% Maine state lodging tax. **Check with the Island Inn for their current cancellation policy as it pertains to COVID-19.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE (weather depending):

  • Sunday: Arrive on Monhegan. Evening meet & greet of wine & hors d’oeuvres Go through plan for the workshop and get your hands busy felting!
  • Monday: Fun wet felting!
  • Tuesday: Find your primary scene, plan & make background canvas. Needle felting demo and practice.
  • Wednesday: Plein air felting! Lunch & question/answer time. More plein air felting. Optional dinner together at Island Inn or other restaurant (cost of dinner not included in tuition)
  • Thursday: Early morning show & tell. Participants depart Monhegan.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Students may cancel with 10 days notice of start of workshop (by May 23) for any reason and receive a FULL refund. After that tuition is not refundable but may be used towards any other Walsh Fine Felt classes, workshops, kits or products.
